6 Simple Steps On How To Clean A Shower Glass

How To Clean Shower Glass

You have guests coming on the weekend, and most of the checkboxes are ticked. Menu, décor, and rooms – everything is all set. Have you checked your shower’s glass doors and walls? Perhaps, you missed out on that part.

A dirty shower door glass or shower glass walls can make a clean bathroom look unattractive. Cleaning a shower glass is not as easy as it may seem. The spots from hard water can give you a tough time. However, with determination and a little know-how, those spots will vanish.

Shower Glass Cleaning Tools

Before getting started, make sure that you have the supplies required for cleaning the shower glass. Here are some of the tools.

  • Spray bottle (Duh!)

  • Baking Soda

  • White Vinegar

  • Scrub sponge

  • Glass Cleaner

  • A piece of cloth or towel

6 Steps To Clean Your Shower’s Glass Doors And Walls

Step#1: First, use a shower sprayer for wetting the shower glass. For splashing the walls, you may use a bucket.

Step#2: Now, fill up a spray bottle with white vinegar. Spray the vinegar on the shower glass thoroughly.

Step#3: Allow the vinegar to soak in for 10 minutes. However, if there is significant buildup on the glass, you may let the vinegar soak longer.

Step#4: It's time for some scrubbing now. Use baking soda as a dip for your scrub sponge, and let the magic begin. As vinegar dissolves the hard water spots and scum, the baking soda will act as an abrasive on the glass.

Step#5: Now that you are done with scrubbing, look closely at the glass door. If it’s shining and looking clean, rinse off the glass with fresh water.

Step#6: The last step is to dry the glass. Use a microfiber cloth for this purpose. Also, don’t forget to use a glass cleaner to finish the process. Clean the glass, towel hangers, and trim.

Ways To Keep The Shower Glass Clean

It is important to know that hard water spots may appear again when water drops dry on the glass. To keep your shower glass clean, try to prevent the water from drying on the glass surface. Not sure how to do that? No worries, here are some preventive measures that may help.

  • Keep a squeegee in the shower. It will wipe down the glass after a shower.

  • To keep the water spots off the glass, consider applying a hydrophobic compound, such as Rain X or Clear Choice, on the glass after cleaning.

  • A water softener is an expensive yet effective solution. Not only does it help keep the shower glass clean, but it also solves other problems. A water softener reduces the mineral buildup on the inside of your showerheads, pipes, dishwasher, and faucets.

Clean the Rest of Your Bathroom Accessories

Now you know how to clean shower glass, but other accessories in your bathroom also require cleaning. However, cleaning the bathtubs, showerheads, and other accessories can be time-consuming. Perhaps, you don't have enough time for a detailed cleaning session. Also, you may not know the best ways to keep your bathroom clean and germ-free properly.
